I keep asking about the third installment in the Halo: Reach Data pads, and have still not heard anything. I asked back in earlier summer and I did get a response saying “soon :)”… half a year later, still nothing. The wait is killing me! You all did such a good analysis of them.

Sorry for the delay. I was hoping to have it finished before the end of this year. Hopefully you’ll only have a few more weeks wait – it’s due out before the end of January.

I didn’t even know that there any books about anything past Halo 3… All they had done recently was a bunch of prologue stuff.

It looks like I should probably go over to wikipedia and look it up.

The Halo books are published globally in many countries inclusing the US, Canada, UK, Europe and Austrailia. They may not be translated into every languages but they should be easy to get in any English speaking country.

Really good to hear Glasslands discussion. Looking forward already to your follow up with Primordium.

On Glasslands, my personal nick-pick is Naomi. Not the character herself, but shouldn’t she be dead? How many other Spartan II’s were not on/killed on Reach? Where was she when Red team was getting killed? A throw away line would be all I want.

I don’t think we’re done hearing about Naomi but I agree with you, a line or two wouldn’t have hurt.

Translated http://www.forwarduntodawn.com/error/ interesting. I’m thinking the drawing at the end is suppose to be the Ancient One. But who know who is the one sending the message, at first I thought it may be Chakas but I’m starting to think otherwise.

Honestly, I did not like Glasslands very much. 2.5/5 for me. Some things were great, such as the whole perspective from the Sangheili in the post-Covenant era, but some were cringe-worthy in my opinion, such as the entire relationship between Halsey and Mendez (Mendez just decides to hate Halsey 40 or so years AFTER the program?) I really did not at all enjoy the fact that Traviss’ viewpoints were crammed down my throat. Nylund allowed the reader to make his own mind about how they felt towards the characters, and Travis just threw this out the window, crucifying Halsey at every moment and literally comparing her to Nazis. Also, because Travis did not read the other novels, she has many plot holes and contradictions in the novel, such as the Sangheili’s viewpoint towards humans (in previous novels, they showed great admiration for humans in many respects, while in Glasslands this is the opposite) and the mysterious disappearance of the Sentinels around Onyx. I also feel that the reactions of the characters did not match what was previously established in other novels, and that’s what killed the story for me. Mendez should never have reacted the way he did in the novel, Osman should never have revealed the details of the Spartan program to civilians (that is a complete contradiction of what an ONI operative would do), and while some characters were interesting and properly fleshed out, Travis’ bias against Halsey really irritated me. REALLY IRRITATED ME. I hope that The Thursday War is not as bad. I loved Contact Harvest, hated Glasslands.
